You will need audio editors software to generate MP3 files. The most common used audio editors software are Audacity (recommended, it is free, open source, platform independent), Adobe Audition (check with FDU computer lab) and Sound Forge. The steps to install Aucacity as follows:
- Down load Audacity software at http://audacity.sourceforge.net. Select download Audacity1.2.6 installer and LAME MP3 encoder.
- Install lame_3.9.6.1 software by using winzip.
- Copy lame_enc.dll file to Audacity directory, for instance, my Audacity software is installed on C:\Program Files\Audacity, copy lame_enc.dll file to Audacity directory.
- Record your first oral presentation and save it to a file.
- Select File, Export as MP3, you need locate lame_enc.dll, which resides on your Audacity directory, at the first time.
- Fill out ID3 Tags. ID3 tags saved inside the MP3 file and will display in MP3 player. Your first oral practice, for instance, you may enter title: Lesson 6 oral practice, Artist: your name and Album: Chinese audio.
- Email me at zengyany@fdu.edu with your MP3 file attachment. I will give you a few comments or email you the correct answers.
You may use Audacity software edit your audio files, for example, setup background music, etc. It is beyond the scope of this class, but I will give you technical support if it is necessary.
